FAQ

What is the S-Pts?

The Structure Points ( S-Pts) is a notation system of the quality of a tournament’s structure. The higher is the value, the slower will be the tournament.

The notation take into consideration, the starting stack, and the evolution of the blind increase. The slower is the increase the higher will be the notation.

We change slightly the original formula to get which wasn’t taking into consideration the starting stack. This notation is suitable for all No Limit Hold’em tournaments and can be applied to Pot Limit Omaha too. It is not used on the other variant.

Few Exemples of the S-Pts for the WSOP 2018, from the slowest structure to most “turbo” one:
– Main Event WSOP $10k : 345 S-Pts
– Marathon Event WSOP $2.62k : 255 S-Pts
– Monster Stack WSOP $1.5k : 155 S-Pts
– 6-handed WSOP $1.5k : 132 S-Pts
– Crazy Eight WSOP $888 : 64 S-Pts
– Colossus WSOP $565 : 56 S-Pts

What about the star rating you are giving then ?

The star rating is based on the ratio of quality of the structure compare to the buy-in. It differs from the S-Pts system which is only based on the structure.

If a tournament is rated 5 Stars, it means the structure is excellent for that buy-in. On the other side if it rated 1 star, the tournament is really quick for that buy-in.

The star rating is purely mathematics (for the purist: it is a formula of non-linear regression based on the buy-in and S-Pts of all tournament held in Vegas during the summer)
